This help document outlines how to create an online assessment or interactive practice problem in the Curriculum Engine. The online assessment or interactive practice problem is created as a learning object in the Curriculum Engine. You can then assign that learning object to a course. This document will focus on building the online learning object.


To begin building a new online assessment, go to the Content menu at the top right of the screen and select the Learning Object Manager option to open the learning object manager window. 


Next, click the Add New Learning Object link located at the top right of the screen:



This will bring up the learning object builder. It will open to the first step: Set Properties.


Learning Object Steps


Below is a summary of the three steps for creating an assessment learning object. Click on any of the topic headings to jump to the help document for that area. If you are building an assessment for the first time, you will need to go through the steps sequentially.

 

Step 1: Set Properties. Use this page to describe some base parameters of your assessment learning object including the assessment name and type. Topics under this step include:



Step 2: Select Standards & Skills. Select the standards and skills, or instructional objectives, that you would like to use to build your assessment learning object. Your selections, along with their respective prerequisites, will be displayed in the Selected Standards and Skills section. You MUST complete the Select Standard Set section first before being able to Select Standards and Skills. Topics in this step include:



Step 3: Upload/Link LO. This step allows you to define the type of assessment you are creating as well as choose and arrange the questions that you want for your online assessment. Topics in this step include:

 


When publishing the online assessment learning object, you will also have the ability to create associated learning objects for the assessment such as an answer key or supporting resources. See Assessment Building | Adding an answer key or other resources to your assessment for more information. 


Once you have created an online learning object, you need to add the learning object to the course in order to assign it to students. See Assessments | Adding an online assessment or interactive practice to a course for information on adding the online learning object to the course.
