This help document outlines how to add an online assessment or interactive practice learning object that you have created to a course in the Curriculum Engine. You must do this step before you can assign the new learning object to a student.
For more information on creating the online assessment learning object, see Assessment Builder | How to create an online assessment.
To add the assessment learning object to a course, go to the Content menu at the top right of the screen and select the Course Manager option to open the course manager window.
The Course Manager will show you the courses to which you have access. The left tab shows courses assigned to you by the district, and the right tab shows courses that you have created. Select the course to which you want to add the online learning assessment.
**NOTE** You may have to switch between tabs to find the course.
Click the pencil icon to the right of the course you want to edit. The pencil icon is located under the Actions column.
You will be prompted with a warning message. Click the Yes button to continue adding the online assessment to the course.
**NOTE** When editing a course, it becomes a draft again and will not be available until you re-publish it.
Click on the pencil icon next to Step 4 – Edit Course Content. The steps are located at the top of the edit course window.
This will open the existing course information for the course that you are editing. Click the ellipsis menu next to the lesson to which you want to add your online assessment.
From the menu drop-down, select the Add LO option:
This will open the Learning Object Repository. The results will be filtered by the standards and skills associated with the lesson.
Scroll down to the Assessment section and expand to browse available assessments. For interactive practices, scroll down to the Interactive Practice Problem section. You will need to click the down caret icon on the right to expand and see the learning objects available in that category.
Check the box to the left of the Online Assessment or Practice that you created and want to add to the lesson.
**NOTE** You will ONLY see your online assessment if the standards and skills associated with your assessment match the standards and skills of the lesson to which you are adding the assessment. If they are not the same, your assessment will not be available to add to the lesson.
Click the Add LOs Button in the top right to add the online assessment to the lesson:
The online assessment or interactive practice will be added to the bottom of the lesson. You can move it to a different spot by clicking on the equal sign (=) to the left of the name and then dragging it to a new spot and releasing.
After adding the online learning object to the course, you will need to publish the course again. Click the Publish button at the top right of the screen:
If your online learning object was set up as a standard learning object, all students will automatically see it. If it was set up as an optional learning object, you will need to assign it to students before they will see it.
When you assign the optional online assessment to students, you will have the option to “Specify Properties” in order to:
- Specify whether the assessment will be practice or graded.
- Specify the duration within which the assessment must be completed.
- Specify the start/end date and time and due date of the assessment.
- Specify the pass percentage for the assessment.
- Specify if the questions should be randomized.
See Assessment Manager | Assigning Assessments and Interactive Practice Problems to students for more information on assigning optional learning objects to students.
