Importing Common Cartridge into Schoology

1) Log into your Schoology account.

2) Select the Resources menu and then click Import from the Drop Down options.

3) Select Common Cartridge (IMSCC or ZIP) from the “Import from:” section and New collection from the “Import to:” section. Give the collection a title. Select Next.

4) Select Attach File, to upload the common cartridge (IMSCC) file, and then select Next.

5) Your common cartridge file will now start uploading. Depending on the size of the file, the import process may take a little time.

6) Once file is loaded you will be able to see a folder under My Resources with the imported materials.

7) Next, you need to import the materials into your course. Go to your course and select Materials --> Add Materials and then select Import from Resources from the drop-down options.

8) Select the content you want added to your course. You can select the entire common cartridge file items or specific tasks.

To select, click the checkbox to the left of the folder or task. Selecting the folder at the top level will select all of the items in the import. Click on the title of the imported course to expand and see the individual folders and tasks. Once you have selected your tasks, click Import.

9. At the Import from Resources window, you can uncheck any items you do not want to import if needed. Once done, click Import again.

Next, you will need to set up your External Tool information associated with the Common Cartridge file.

1) From the course where you imported the common cartridge resources, click Add Materials and select Add File/Link/External Tool from the drop down.

2) At the pop-up, click the External Tool option.

3) Enter a Title for the External Tool. This can be whatever name you want to give it. Copy the URL, Consumer Key and Shared Secret from the Curriculum Engine and click Submit. See How to get the LTI information for a Common Cartridge File help document for more information.

4) You need to update the individual tasks that you want to share with students and add the newly configured external tool to those tasks. Click the Gear icon next to the individual tasks and click Edit.

5) Select the External Tool that you configured above from the drop-down field next to Tool Provider and click Save Changes.

*NOTE* You will need to do this for each task that you want to share with students.

If you try to launch a task that has not been associated with the external tool, you will get the below warning message:
