Below are the release notes for our software update that  was released on March 25, 2021.

** Software Update **

As you log in to the Curriculum Engine today, you'll notice that we've updated the software with some new features and added additional resources to the platform.

Common Cartridge Export

NR - Common Cartirdge

In addition to exporting a course via LTI, you can now export a Curriculum Engine course to Common Cartridge. This is a Thin Common Cartridge export, which allows you to share your Curriculum Engine courses with other Learning Management Systems such as CanvasTM and SchoologyTM. The Common Cartridge export is only available to School Admins and District Supervisors.

New Instructional Strategy Icons

Icons

We've begun adding icons to some of our learning objects in the Curriculum Engine. For example, we've added icons to many of our problem based tasks for research-based instructional strategies that support best practice as it relates to diverse learners. If you see an icon, simply click on it to get a brief overview. In the program overview, you will find more information about how to implement the strategy.

NOTE: Some browsers may prevent the icon from opening within the Curriculum Engine. In that case, you can download and view it with Adobe or another PDF reader to open the icon link.

New Conceptual Tasks

We've also added over 40 new conceptual tasks aligned to major standards in the Curriculum Engine. These tasks can be found in the Learning Object Repository under the Learning / Performance Tasks Folder. They've been tagged to the appropriate standards and skills.

Each conceptual tasks is comprised of two learning objects:

  • Part 1: Conceptual Task & Exploration Questions (Student View)
  • Part 2: Exploration Questions Sample Responses  (Teacher Resource)

We will be adding these conceptual tasks at the topic level of some of our digital courses for the fall.

NOTE: We've also been busy adding additional Open Education Resources to the platform. Be sure to check out the latest GeoGebra applets.

Bug Fixes

We've also fixed some bugs in this latest release.

Bug fixes include:

  • Improved error message around running the Response Analysis Report when items vary between students.
  • Response Analysis Report not showing results of students most recent attempt.
  • Item Analysis Report missing results for some students. There have been additional checks added for student task submission to eliminate this scenario from occurring.
  • When using a copied version of Walch course, students added to class after course assigned do not see course materials.
  • Clever sync pulling in term data as part of class name to help distinguish classes with the same name in drop down selection for Item Analysis, Gradebook and Copy Assignment.
  • Unable to change an assigned task between graded or practice after removing a student from a class who has attempted the assignment.
  • Course progress report showing percentage > 100%.

Program Offerings

Curriculum-as-a-Service

Curriculum-as-a-Service enables districts and schools to work directly with Walch’s staff to develop aligned, tailored high school math resources for the classroom. Teachers work with Walch’s Curriculum-as-a-Service team via phone or video conference to create core and supplemental materials for classes of any size, whether in-person, remote, or hybrid. The resources developed in Curriculum-as-a-Service are available immediately both digitally (via common cartridge or LTI) and via Walch’s print-on-demand network.

Summer School

Many of our district partners are investing in summer programs to address remote learning gaps in learning. These summer programs will help students get ready for next school year. Whether it’s Algebra Readiness, Credit Recovery, Targeted Remediation, or something else, delivered face to face or hybrid, we can develop 100% tailored resources to support you. In 30-45 minutes we can design a course together and, if you like it, we can put it on your Google Classroom, Canvas, Schoology or other LMS, or deliver it via ours. Printed workbooks available too! Let us know if you’d like to learn more.
