This help document will show you how to specify additional properties for online Interactive Practice Problems. The properties that you can specify include duration, minimum proficiency score, randomize items, reattempts, and apply settings to other classes.
Specify Additional Properties
The Specify Additional Properties option is ONLY available for online tasks. You do not have the ability to set these fields for other learning object types.
This help document shows you how to set those properties for standard learning objects such as Interactive Practice Problems (IPP). These settings are accessed via Manager Course. Please see Manage Course | Overview
Under Manage Course, expand the course hierarchy, go to the IPP that you want to edit and click the Specify Additional Properties link located at the bottom right of the learning object tile.
*NOTE* Specify Additional Properties will not be available until you have added the task to the assignment.
After selecting Specify Additional Properties, the Curriculum Engine will open a pop-up window with the fields you can edit:
You can set the following properties in this pop-up window:
- Duration: This option is available for timed activities. The duration will default to the time set for that learning object, but you can change the duration if needed.
- Minimum Proficiency Score: Specify the pass percentage or minimum grade a student needs to pass the task (default = 65%).
- Randomize Items: When checked, the Curriculum Engine will scramble the order of the questions each time the activity is launched (default = randomized).
- Reattempts: You can set the number of times a student can reattempt the task. By default, reattempts will be checked and unlimited for practice tasks however you can override the setting if desired. (default (practice) = checked/unlimited).
- Apply settings to all classes: When updating the properties for an online standard task, you can select this option and when you save the settings all of your classes that have the same course and version assigned will also update to the same properties for the learning object.
Duration
Below are a few points on task behavior and duration:
- The student’s answers are saved for a task when he/she exits without submitting. The student can return to the same task and continue where they left off.
- When a student launches a task and the duration is not set, a timer or the run-time will be displayed. This is to let the teacher see how long it takes for the student to complete the attempt.
- If the duration is set with a time limit, the student will see both the timer and duration. When time is up, the student has to submit the activity.
Save
Once you have specified the additional properties, click the OK button at the bottom of the pop-up screen. You will now need to save your updates. Scroll to the top of the Manage Course window and click the Save button
The Curriculum Engine will prompt you when the updates have been saved successfully. You can click the Ok button to exit the prompt.
