This help document provides information on the Response Analysis report. The Response Analysis report is used to review detailed information on around how students answered individual items on an online task. This report is available for assessments and practice learning objects only.


Access


To access the Response Analysis Report, go to the Reports --> Item Analysis Report menu option located at the top right of the screen. 



Report Filters


This will open the Item Analysis Report at the first report filter field. As you fill in the filters, additional options will become available.



Course


Select the course for which you want to run the report from the drop-down listing of available courses. Once you select the course, additional fields will be available.


*NOTE* Courses are assigned to classes. You can have more than one course associated with a class.



Version


Courses can have more than one version, although for many there will only be one. Select the version of the course from the drop-down listing.



Class


Courses can be assigned to more than one class. Select the class for which you want to run the item analysis report from the drop-down list of available classes




Additional Assignment


Select the name of the assignment that contains the item or task for which you want to run the Item Analysis Report. Select from the drop-down listing, which will show you all assignments available for the course and class you specified previously.


**NOTE** This is an OPTIONAL field. If you are running the report for a standard learning object like an online practice set, do not select an assignment name from the dropdown; you can leave this field blank.



Learning Object


Select the assessment or practice problem for which you want to run the Item Analysis report. Select from the drop-down listing. If you selected an assignment in the previous field, the drop down will only display those tasks that are part of the assignment, otherwise, it will display all available online tasks that have been completed by at least one student.



Run Report


Once you have entered your filter criteria, click the Generate button located below the filter options to run the report. This button will become active once you have entered your filter criteria.





Report Summary



The top of the report will list a summary of how all students who took the assessment did and will include information on:


  • How many students were assigned and how many attempted the assessment
  • The highest score on the assessment of the students in the selected class who have taken the assessment
  • The lowest score on the assessment of the students in the selected class who have taken the assessment
  • The average score of all of the students in the selected class who have taken the assessment
  • The difficulty level of the assessment. The difficulty level is set when the assessment is created.


Item Breakdown Analysis


The report will default to the Item Breakdown analysis. 




The Item Analysis Report below the summary data will list each student with their score and how they did on each question of the assessment or practice learning object The question results are color coded:


  • Green = Answered Correctly
  • Red = Answered Incorrectly
  • Orange = Answered Partially Correct
  • Gray = Not Answered or Not Gradable (for example, an open-ended question)


Response Analysis


To see the Response Analysis Report, click the "Response Analysis" button in the Item Analysis: By Response section.



This will open the Response Analysis Report:



Click into any of the items:



To open details on the student's response to that item/question:



To move through the items/questions one at a time, use the forward and back arrows at the top right:
