This help document outlines how to update your Google Chrome settings to allow for automatic viewing of PDF documents within the Curriculum Engine.


PDF Viewing in the Curriculum Engine


In Google Chrome, there is a setting for “Download PDF files instead of automatically opening them in Chrome”. If this is set to "ON" you will not be able to automatically view PDF documents in the Curriculum Engine. The system will prompt you to open the file first. 

An example of the message you will see in the Curriculum Engine when trying to view a PDF file is shown below:



Update Google Chrome Setting


You will need to change the “Download PDF files instead of automatically opening them in Chrome” setting in Google Chrome so that you can automatically view PDF files in the Curriculum Engine.


1) Open your Google Chrome menu by clicking on the ellipses menu located at the top right of the browser:



2) Click the Settings menu option to open:



3) Click on the Privacy and Security menu option. **NOTE** The menu options are located along the left side.



4) Under Privacy and Security, click on the Site Settings option to open:



5) Under Site Settings, scroll to the bottom and click the Additional Content Settings option to open:



6) Click on the option for PDF Documents to open:



The setting will be set to "ON":



7) Do disable the option, slide the circle to the left. It will now be gray to indicate that it is "Off".




PDF documents will now open automatically for you in the Curriculum Engine.
