This help document reviews the tags used to identify the learning object tasks associated with your course when working in the Manage Course feature of the Curriculum Engine.

For details on how to get to the Manage Course feature, please see Classes | Manage Course overview.

Expand Course

Once you are in the Manage Course window, the Track Progress and Edit Availability section at the bottom will display your course components, including all sections and learning objects associated with the course. You can expand each section to view the learning objects by clicking on the down caret to the right of each section:

For information on expanding all of the course details, please see Classes | How to expand a course under manage course.

Tags

As you scroll through the course, you’ll see that each individual learning object is tagged with helpful information.

If it is an optional learning object, it will be flagged with a yellow "Optional" tag at the top right of the task tile. Any optional learning objects must be assigned to students before they will have access to the task.

Anything without this yellow optional flag is a standard learning object; these are flagged in green. Standard learning objects are automatically available to students once the course has been assigned to them.

At the top right of the task tile and to the left of the Optional or Standard tag, you will also see the task sub-type listed to help you further identify that learning object. For example, an assessment could be a pre-assessment, progress assessment, or unit assessment, so this sub-type tag helps distinguish between the options.

If the learning object is an online item, there will be an icon to the left of the sub-type tag to help identify it. In the example below, the learning object is a Learnosity item, so the multi-colored "Learnosity" tag is displayed.

If an optional learning object has been assigned to one or more students, you’ll see the name of that assignment underneath the learning object name next to the "Used in" tag.

You can view the standards and skills associated with a  learning object task by clicking on the View Standards and Skills link on the right-hand side of the task tile under the learning object tags.

On the right side of each section header, you’ll also see a summary of how many optional and standard learning objects are in that section, as well as if there are any optional ones that have been assigned. A Curriculum Engine course can have up to three hierarchy levels or sections; for example, Units, Topics, and Lessons. This summary information would be shown at the top level of these hierarchy sections.
