This help document shows you how you can select standards and skills associated with a different course than the one specified in your standard set. These additional standards can be included in the course you are editing. This can be useful if you want to choose instructional objectives from several courses.
When Editing a Course, selecting standards and skills from another course is part of Step 2: Select Standards & Skills.
In addition to selecting standards and skills from the course you have specified, you are able to select standards from other courses. For help identifying which standards are currently used in the course you are editing, see Course Editor | Step 2: Identifying the standard set used in a course.
Select Standards and Skills from Another Course
Below is an image of standards selected from the course/grade standards assigned to the course you are editing.
When you choose the standard consortia from the drop-down menu under Select the Standard Set, the window will display the standards from that set used in the course. **NOTE** You will need to re-enter the standard set and click the Show Standards and Skills button first in order to see the standards displayed.
From the drop-down selection under Course/Grade Standards, choose another course from which you would like to include standards. After selecting the course, click the Show Standards and Skills button to display the standards for the newly selected course.
You can now see and select additional standards to include in your course.
The standards you selected from the original course will not be lost. The Curriculum Engine will remember the selected standards from both courses.
See Course Editor | Step 2: How to update specific standards and skills used in a course for more information on selecting standards for your course.
When you are finished selecting your standards, click the Next button at the bottom of the screen to move on to Course Editor | Step 3: Update the duration of a lesson for a course.
When editing a course, you do not need to follow the steps sequentially and you can also jump to editing another area by clicking on the pencil icon next to that step in the menu bar at the top.
**NOTE** The pencil icon next to the step currently selected will turn blue and change to the step number. The other steps will show the pencil icon in purple.
