This help document will outline how to set up a Walch course as an external LTI tool that you can access in your Learning Management System (LMS). You can use LTI connections to access the Curriculum Engine courses on platforms such as Canvas, Moodle, Schoology, and Itslearning.

**NOTE** The Curriculum Engine currently supports LTI 1.0.

To begin you will need to create the LTI connection setup in the Curriculum Engine. In the Curriculum Engine, go to the Content menu at the top right of the screen and select the Course Manager option to open the course catalog window.

Click on the ellipsis menu, which is the three vertical dots found on the right under the actions column, for the course that you want to share through LTI. This will open the course menu options. Select the LTI Consumer option:

This will open the LTI menu, showing you which consumers are already set up for LTI access. To set up a new connection, click the Add Consumer button at the top right of the screen:

The LTI Details screen will open. You will need to select the tool consumer that you are connecting to from the drop-down listing.

**NOTE** If there is no tool consumer created for your LMS yet, you may need to add them in before you can generate the information and save the LTI setup.

Add a Tool Consumer

To add a Tool Consumer, click the pencil icon or the word “Manage” to the right of the Tool Consumer drop-down field:

This will open the “Manage Tool Consumers” window:

Enter the name of the LMS or other tool consumer to which you want to connect and click the Save button.  First, you may need to click the Plus (+) Tool Consumer icon to get a blank line to enter the name.

Once created, you can now select that tool consumer from the drop-down menu.

After selecting the tool consumer, the Key and Shared Secret fields will be auto-filled. You can also enter the LTI expiration date and number of student users at this screen:

Once you have entered all the information, you need to save the LTI setup. Click the Add button at the top right of the screen:

You will now need to go into your Learning Management System to set up the rest of the LTI connection.

The information that you will need from the Curriculum Engine LTI setup to share with your LMS includes the following:

  • LTI URL
  • Key Code
  • Shared Secret Code

**NOTE** There is a Copy icon to the right of each of these fields to simplify the process of copying and pasting the information from the Curriculum Engine into your LMS LTI setup.

Below is a link to documentation for how to use the LTI information from the Curriculum Engine to complete the setup in Schoology and Canvas:

If you are not using Schoology or Canvas, you will need to see the help documentation from your specific LMS for instructions on how to complete the LTI setup. The exact steps will vary depending on which LMS you are using.
