This help document covers setting the learning object type for the assessment learning object that you are creating.

When creating a new learning object, there are three steps. Setting the learning object types is part of Step 1: Set Properties. This can be found at the bottom of the Learning Object Details section.

Mark your LO as Standard or Optional

There are two options available for the learning object type: standard or optional. Select the radio button for the type of learning object that you are creating:

Standard: Once the assessment is added to a course, it will be visible to all students automatically.

Optional: The assessment will only be visible to students once they have been assigned the assessment learning object. It will not automatically be available.

The last section under Set Properties is Instructional Settings. This section is optional. It is where you can enter additional descriptive information about the assessment learning object. To learn more, see the help document for Instructional Settings: Assessment Builder | Step 1: Adding instructional settings to your assessment learning object. You can also leave this section blank.

If you are not completing the Instructional Settings section now, you can click the Next button at the bottom of the screen to move to the next step. See Assessment Builder | Step 2: Select the standard set to be used with your assessment learning object for more information.
