This help document shows you how to edit the instructions for your lessons, which allows you to update the standards and skills to use with a specific lesson.
When Building a New Course, you go through five steps. Editing the instructions for your course is under Step 4: Edit Course Content.
Edit Instructions
When you edit the standards and skills associated with a lesson by editing the instructions, it will update the learning objects that can be added to that lesson.
1. Click the ellipsis menu and Select "Edit Instruction".
2. This will bring up a window showing the available standards and skills for this course. Those already associated with the lesson will be checked. Those that are unchecked are not currently associated with that lesson.
Add Standard
Adding standards enables you to add learning objects corresponding to those standards to the lesson. To add a standard, click the checkbox to the left of the standard name.
Remove Standard
Removing standards will remove the learning objects corresponding to those standards from the lesson. To remove a standard, uncheck the box to the left of the standard name.
Edit Skills
To add or remove specific skills from the lesson, click the skill. If it is highlighted in purple, it is included; if it is shown in white, it is not included.
When only some of the skills are selected, the checkbox next to the standard will show a minus sign rather than a check mark. This indicates that some but not all of the skills associated with that standard are included.
3. Save changes.
One you have edited the standards and skills, click the Apply button in the top right to save your changes.
**NOTE** If learning objects are being used in lessons that are aligned with standards or skills you have removed, they will be removed from the lesson, too.
If you removed any standards or skills, you will be prompted with a warning message:
4. Click Yes, to apply your changes; or No to go back.
**NOTE** If you want to exit without saving, click the back arrow at the top left.
