This help document covers setting up the pacing for the course you are creating. You can set the duration of your class period or set up a self-paced course.
When building a new course, there are five steps. Setting the pacing for a course is part of Step 1: Set Properties.
Pacing Settings
After entering your course details, the next section is pacing settings. You have two options for this section. You must select one.
Self-paced course: Check this option if the student will be completing this course on his or her own. If you check this option, the pacing options for duration of a period will be disabled.
Duration of a period: If this will be an instructor-lead course, enter the length of your typical class period.
**NOTE** The duration must be greater than 5 minutes.
Instructional Settings
The last section under Set Properties is Instructional Settings. This section is optional. You can enter additional descriptive information about the course. To learn more, see the help document for Instructional Settings: Course Builder | Step 1: Adding instructional settings to your course. **NOTE** You can also leave this section blank.
If you are not filling out the instructional settings now, you can click the Next button at the bottom of the screen to move on to Course Builder | Step 2: Select the standard set to be used with your course.
